Sick Time
In order to help prevent loss of earnings that may be caused by accident, injury or illness, the Company provides paid sick leave. Sick leave also may be used by employees for the purpose of securing necessary medical treatment. An employee must obtain approval from his or her supervisor prior to taking a scheduled partial or full day for sick leave.
Regular full-time employees are eligible for 64 hours of paid sick time during each calendar year. Part-time and temporary employees are eligible for 48 hours of paid sick time during each calendar year. Unused sick leave does not accrue from year to year. Employees are not paid for any unused sick leave either during employment or upon termination of employment.
Employees may use their annual sick leave to attend to the illness of a child, parent, spouse or domestic partner. However, such family-related sick leave usage is subject to all of the same conditions and restrictions which apply to each employee’s use of earned sick leave for his or her personal illness. For example, employees must give as much prior notice as possible of such need to be absent, are subject to the same verification of illness requirements, and are subject to termination for any falsification of information related to such family illness sick leave usage. Sick leave may also be used if the employee is a victim of domestic violence, sexual assault or stalking.
The Company reserves the right to request verification of your absence, including a medical release from a physician, as a condition to your receiving sick leave benefits and as a condition to allowing you to return to work.
